Online healthcare products store HealthyWorld.in raises $200K in seed funding

Mumbai-based HW Wellness Solutions Pvt Ltd the company behind online healthcare products store HealthyWorld.in, has raised $200,000 (about Rs 1.23 crore) from a group of investors, including a digital media serial entrepreneur, surgeon and an NRI, according to a top executive of the company.

HealthyWorld.in plans to use the funds for marketing, offline integration and private labelling.

“Our strengths lie in identifying the right products and services for the users. We would continue to focus on health and are delighted to find like-minded investors,” said Puru Gupta, co-founder, HealthyWorld.in.

The company was founded in May 2011 by Gupta and Sreejith Moolayil. While Gupta has previously worked at Cognizant Technologies as an analyst, CSC as a software engineer and Procter & Gamble; Moolayil has worked at Delphi TVS, Tata Motors and Cognizant Technologies across various positions in HR department.

HealthWorld.in claims of selling more than 4,000 products spanning lifestyle issues, nutrients and healthy diet options. It has tied up with 200 dieticians and nutritionists.

The firm had previously raised an undisclosed amount from Krishna Vishwanath, ex-consulting head, Cognizant Consulting.

HealthWorld.in competes with heavily funded Healthkart which had earlier netted an undisclosed amount in Series B funding led by Intel Capital, Rs 27 crore in Series A funding from Sequoia and Omidyar Network and $1 million in seed funding from Kae Capital and Sequoia.
