OneAccess Networks, a European provider of enterprise access routers and business multiplay IP services, has acquired Indian router manufacturer BA Systems for an undisclosed sum. BA Systems is a Bangalore-based company and is backed by venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners. BA has also raised debt funding from Gold Hill Capital and Silicon Valley Bank.

It designs and sells integrated service routing platforms to Internet Telephony Service Providers (ITSPs).

With this acquisition, OneAccess has got over 100 new customers in its fold, of which 10 are in IT services space, said a company statement. The acquisition has also strengthened its position in the fast growing Asian market.

OneAccess finds the Asian market very lucrative because the local operators here update their network architecture frequently and look for new solutions. Post this development, both the companies now plan to offer a broader range of products, especially targeting the Indian market.

It will also set up R&D and customization centers in India for the new range of products. “The acquisition gives us the opportunity to develop a major integration competence centre, expanding our R&D workforce, with a target to have 100 local engineers in the following years,” Bertrand Meis, CEO of OneAccess Networks, said in the statement.

OneAccess has also acquired some companies in its own geography as well. In 2008, it acquired Aeta.com, a French company which develops and manufactures ethernet, IP and ATM access devices. Prior to that, it acquired Telindus Access Products Division of Telindus Group of France in 2006.
