Online classifieds firm OLX has named Momtaz Moussa as India general manager.
Moussa, who joined OLX in early 2016 as general manager in Egypt, has been heading key markets in MENA (Middle East and North Africa), including Lebanon and Oman, the company said in a statement.
Previously, he has worked with consulting firm Booz & Co and telecom operator Vodafone. Moussa holds MBA from INSEAD Business School and BSc in Computer Science from American University in Cairo.
“India represents one of the most important markets for OLX Group. The appointment of Momtaz Moussa will help drive growth in the country. His track record in leading teams to deliver growth, combined with his deep knowledge of classifieds, puts him in the best position to take charge of our business in India,” said Leonardo Rubinstein, chief executive, ALMEA (Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa) for OLX Group.
In September last year, Amarjit Singh Batra, chief executive of OLX India, quit and said he will be moving to South African technology group Naspers, the parent of OLX.
