Multiples PE’s $110 million investment in Arvind Fashions, a subsidiary of textile maker Arvind Ltd, for a 10% stake was the biggest private equity deal this past week. Motilal Oswal Private Equity, an arm of Motilal Oswal Financial Services, struck two deals in the food sector with investments in Bengaluru-based Dairy Classic Ice Creams and Kolkata’s Ganesh Grains.

After the high of the previous week, which saw large merger and acquisition deals involving Essar Oil, Wipro and HCL Technologies, this week was relatively muted.

Sun Pharmaceuticals’ deal to acquire Switzerland-registered Ocular Technologies for $40 million was the biggest M&A transaction this week. Among other deals, Hero MotoCorp signed a deal to invest $30.5 million in electric vehicle maker Ather Energy for 25-30% stake and Navneet Education agreed to acquire the Indian schools’ curriculum-based business of Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc for $12.71 million.
