Morgan Stanley's Asia Pacific M&A head Edward King will leave the bank, a Morgan Stanley spokesman for told Reuters on Tuesday, and is being replaced by two seniors bankers from within the U.S. bank.

Samuel Kim and Peter Ding will take on the new roles as the co-heads of Asia Pacific M&A, the spokesman added.

King could not be reached for comment and it was not known why he resigned and where he was headed.

King's departure is the second high profile exit from Morgan Stanley's dealmaking team. Last year, Morgan Stanley lost its head of Asia Pacific investment banking Matthew Ginsburg, who resigned to join British bank Barclays as its Asia Pacific head of investment banking.

King, a Morgan Stanley veteran, was involved in the $2.15 billion sale of American International Group Inc.'s sale of its Taiwan life insurance unit last year.

Last week, Morgan Stanley said that Stephen Roach, chairman of its Asia operations and one of the region's most high-profile economists, would relocate from Hong Kong to New York, in part to take up a teaching position at Yale.
