Bank of America-Merrill Lynch has appointed Pradeep Dokania to the new position of India head of global wealth and investment management, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters.

Bank of America-Merrill Lynch and other financial firms are adding senior staff in the region as Asia leads the recovery from the global downturn. In India, foreign and domestic banks have been stepping up their wealth management operations.

Dokania, previously head of the company's India advisory business, will be replaced by Atul Singh in that role, the memo said. Singh was previously the head of Asia-Pacific global wealth and investment management strategy at Singapore.
