Mayfield India Appoints GlobalLogic’s Sunil Singh As Venture Advisor

Mayfield Fund, a US-based firm which makes venture and growth capital investments in India, has appointed GlobalLogic India’s managing director Sunil Singh as a venture advisor. Singh will help evaluate Internet and IT investment opportunities, Mayfield has said in a statement.

Singh is currently GlobalLogic’s managing director and chief of Asia-Pacific, where he is responsible for managing operations, market development and business strategy in the APAC region (including India). GlobalLogic is a software and R&D services provider, backed by investors like Sequoia, NEA and Goldman Sachs.

Before GlobalLogic, Singh was CEO of Informance (acquired in a private equity buyout), and founded Mokume (acquired by Versant) and Visionworks (acquired by UK-based Xansa).

Singh is also an active angel investor and sits on board or advises companies like Kaboodle (a social shopping website acquired by Hearst Media), Movoto (real estate site) and others. His investments in India span e-commerce, education (Sunstone Business School) and food & beverage companies (Bakers Circle and Crazy Noodles). Singh holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University and did his B.Tech from IIT Kanpur.

Mayfield invests in India from a $111 million dedicated fund, besides its $400 million Mayfield XIII fund, which targets technology-focused companies. The Mayfield India team includes Navin Chaddha, Vikram Godse, Nikhil Khattau, Robin Vasan, and James Beck.

Its technology investments in India include Tejas Networks, Consim Info (owner of Bharatmatrimony.com) and Geodesic Techniques. Other recent investments include Sohal Lal Commodities, Fourcee Infrastructure and Centum Learning.
