Masala bonds: Why they are important for India’s investment prospects

What if Indian companies wanted foreign debt but not in Dollars or Euros? Masala bonds is an answer to this predicament, as it allows companies to raise foreign debt in Rupees. Indian companies can raise debt (External Commercial Borrowings or ECBs) from international sources and they prefer to do as the debt is much cheaper to raise abroad than in India.
