Global association of independent law firms Lex Mundi has named Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM & Co), as its exclusive member firm for India, the company said in a press release on Wednesday.
It has voted unanimously to admit SAM & Co. as the exclusive member firm and replaced erstwhile Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co.
The membership in Lex Mundi provides a network of law firms and an access to global legal resources.
“As Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas looks forward to engage with clients to bring innovative thinking and business solutions to legal issues, our Lex Mundi membership will provide our clients access to the best legal minds in cities around the globe,” said Shardul Shroff, executive chairman of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.
Brothers Shardul and Cyril Shroff jointly operated the country’s top corporate law firm Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co (AMSS) as managing partners. Recently, the firm split into two and Lex Mundi has named the elder brother Shardul’s firm as its member.
Headed by Shardul Shroff and Pallavi Shroff, the firm has more than 350 lawyers, including 65 partners across its six offices each in New Delhi, Mumbai, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kolkata.
The association has more than 160 member firms and has around 21,000 lawyers. Lex Mundi’s other members firms are located throughout North America, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.
