Law firm JSA appoints Varun Sriram as retained partner

Gurgaon-headquartered law firm J Sagar Associates (JSA) has appointed Varun Sriram as a retained partner, the company said in a statement. His appointment is effective from July 1, 2015 and he will be based in the firm's Chennai office.

With this, the number of JSA's retained and equity partners increased to 78. In April, the law firm had promoted four lawyers—Mary Julie John, Kanan Rahul, Arpita Garg and Vishal Anand.

Sriram, who specialises in private equity, venture capital, domestic and cross border M&As, joined JSA from HSB Partners, a Chennai-based advisory firm where he was principal associate.

He has advised firms in sectors like healthcare, security services, hospitality, ports, telecom VAS, manufacturing, technology and software services.

"JSA has always been committed to build a merit-based institution. Varun is an addition as part of that journey at JSA," said Berjis Desai, senior partner, JSA.

Sriram started his career as an associate with HSB and later worked with other companies including ALMT Legal and Baker & Mckenzie before re-joining HSB.

He holds a degree in law from Symbiosis Law College, Noida and did CS, corporate legal & secretarial, from The Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

JSA has a pan-India presence and employs more than 350 lawyers and consultants, including over 78 partners.
