Law firm AZB & Partners inducts Rishi Gautam as corporate partner

Mumbai-headquartered AZB & Partners, one of the biggest corporate law firms in the country and a top legal advisor for private equity (PE) and mergers & acquisitions (M&As) deals, has inducted former Clifford Chance senior associate Rishi Gautam as corporate partner. 

Gautam will the join the company in Mumbai in January 2015.

“We are pleased to have Rishi joining us. He is a sound lawyer with excellent skill sets and will be a great addition to our M&A and corporate team,” AZB & Partners' managing partner Zia Mody said.

Gautam, who graduated in 2001 from National Law School of India University, Bangalore, started his career with Amarchand Mangaldas and left the company in 2006 to join Sydney office of Freehills, which has merged with Herbert Smith to become Herbert Smith Freehills.

Later in 2008, he moved to London to join Clifford Chance, where he had worked in the team of the firm’s India M&A head Mark Poulton, who is now also London corporate head, and India group partner Sumesh Sawhney, who has since joined Jones Day.

He worked there till 2012 and then joined a subsidiary of global e-commerce giant Amazon.
