KPMG India appoints Utkarsh Palnitkar as head of transactions & restructuring and life sciences

KPMG in India has appointed Utkarsh Palnitkar as partner & national head of transactions & restructuring practice, as well as the national head of life sciences practice.

The development comes in the wake of the company’s plans to restructure the senior leadership to fuel its long-term growth. Only recently, the company made three senior level appointments including Ambarish Dasgupta as the head of management consulting, Vikram Hosangady as head of private equity and Shalini Pillay as head, human resources.

Palnitkar joins KPMG from Centrum Capital Ltd where he was an executive director. Prior to that, he was associated with Ernst & Young for 15 years where he was the leader of advisory and life science practices. He was also the office managing partner of E&Y’s Hyderabad practice.

Earlier, he was associated with various life sciences projects in India including the country’s first biotech and bio-IT parks, biotech incubator and biotech-focused venture capital.

“An industry veteran, Utkarsh has a vast experience across life sciences, business advisory, government, real estate and infrastructure advisory,” noted KPMG (India) CEO Richard Rekhy.

Commenting on his appointment, Palnitkar said, “We seek to capitalise on our positive fundamentals through further deepening our sector skills while expanding the spectrum of deal services to add value to our clients.”

KPMG is a global network of firms providing professional services. The company has presence in 152 countries and has around 145,000 people working in member firms around the world. Each KPMG firm is a legally distinct and separate entity, and describes itself as such.

KPMG in India is the Indian member firm of KPMG International and was established back in September 1993. The Indian entity provides services to 2,000-plus international and national clients in India and has offices in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bangalore and Chennai, among others.
