Law firm Khaitan & Co said on Wednesday it has appointed Nikhil Narayanan as a partner in the New Delhi office, taking the total number of partners to 102.

Narayanan was previously working as a corporate partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, which he joined after one-and-a-half decades in the UK. Previously, he worked at law firms Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP and White & Case LLP in London.

In the course of his career, Narayanan has advised international companies, financial sponsors and investment banks on cross-border M&As and equity capital market transactions. He has also been an investment banker at Credit Suisse.

“Nikhil brings new dimension to our capabilities in New Delhi. In addition to his significant M&A experience, Nikhil's equity capital market experience will immensely benefit our clients,” said Khaitan & Co's Executive Director Amar Sinhji.

Narayanan has an MBA from the London Business School. He graduated from the National Law School of India University in 1998 and receive the BCL degree from St. Catherine's College, Oxford, in 1999, where he was a Radhakrishnan Scholar.

Khaitan & Co has clients in India and abroad. It has over 415 lawyers across its offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore.

Earlier this month, the company appointed Rahul Dutt, senior in-house counsel at Reliance Industries Ltd, as its partner. In May, it had appointed Amar Sinhji as executive director - human resources.

Prior to that, it promoted five associate partners to equity partnership level, becoming the first Indian law firm to reach 100-partner mark.
