Just Dial revenues rise 38% to Rs 362.77Cr in FY13; ‘paid listings’ comprises 2.2% of total

23 July, 2013

Mumbai-based Just Dial Ltd, which runs the local-specific online business directory Justdial.com, has recorded 38 per cent rise in operating revenues for the full year ended March 31, 2013, driven by a steep rise in user searches on its internet and mobile internet platforms.

Just Dial Ltd’s search service is available to users across multiple platforms including internet, mobile internet, phone (voice) and Text (SMS).

Operating revenues for the 12-month period rose 38 per cent to Rs 362.77 crore from Rs 262.06 crore in the previous year. Operating EBITDA increased 50 per cent to reach Rs 100.83 crore from Rs 67.23 crore a year ago and operating EBITDA margin rose to 28 per cent, as against 26 per cent in the year-ago period. In the same period, net profit reached Rs 68.46 crore from Rs 50.58 crore in FY12.

The operating performance was led by 208 per cent increase in mobile internet visits, which reached 41.9 million from 13.6 million in FY12. In total, it received approximately 364 million search requests from the users of its search services, a growth of 43 per cent compared to 254.3 million in Fiscal 2012.

This also comprised 182.6 million internet searches, 47 per cent growth from 124.3 million last year. The increase in searches was also driven by 20 per cent growth in voice searches and 47 per cent growth in SMS search.

The internet platform (both PC & mobile) contributed 62 per cent of total search requests in FY13, as against 54 per cent in FY12. Mobile internet visits contributed to 12 per cent of total search requests in FY13, compared to 5 per cent in FY12.

As of March 31, 2013, it was conducting approximately 206,500 campaigns for its paid advertisers. This marks a growth of 21 per cent as compared to 171,000 campaigns as of March 31, 2012, and a growth of 5.8 per cent over 195,100 campaigns at the end of December 31, 2012. This translates into around 2.2 per cent paid listings out of the total 9.1 million listings on the site.

“FY13 has seen yet another solid performance on all fronts. We are benefiting from the Indian ecosystem of increasing internet usage driven by smartphones, which is amply reflected in our usage pattern. The incremental growth in usage coming from the internet platform is driven by mobile internet. As we move forward, we plan to deepen our engagement with our users with innovative products and services that are logical extensions,” said VSS Mani, MD & CEO of Just Dial.
