InMobi chief revenue officer Atul Satija quits, to float non-profit social impact startup

24 April, 2015

Atul Satija, chief revenue officer (CRO) at mobile ad network InMobi, has put in his papers and is now floating a non-profit social impact startup, sources close to the matter told VCCircle. He will continue to be associated with InMobi as a business advisor, they added.

When contacted, InMobi spokesperson confirmed the move and said Abhay Singhal, co-founder of the firm, will take up the role of CRO. IIT Kanpur alumnus Singhal is responsible for sales development as well as developing global revenue strategies.

“While starting his own non-profit venture, he will continue to work with us as InMobi’s chief business advisor,” Naveen Tewari, CEO and founder, InMobi, said.

Satija said his venture will focus on sustainable poverty alleviation.

Previously, he served as the president of the board of a non-profit organisation called End Poverty which is engaged in poverty alleviation programmes in India.

He had joined InMobi in December 2010 as vice president and managing director of its Japan and Asia-Pacific operations. He has been working as vice president, revenue and  operations at InMobi and part of its eight-member global leadership team.

Satija has built InMobi’s online sales channels for global demand and supply.

He has a strong mobile advertising and digital media experience from his Google days where he was head of wireless business for Japan and Asia-Pacific.

Satija has been driving the mobile ecosystem, strategy and partnerships with carriers, OEMs and publishers across the region at Google. He also served as head of business development for Google in India where he managed Google’s search syndication, Adsense, mobile, Android, distribution and enterprise businesses.

Prior to joining Google, he handled various sales, consulting and business development roles in organisations across telecom and technology sectors, including Adobe, Samsung and Infosys.

He holds a master’s in Business Administration with a dual-major in Strategic Marketing and Technology from Indian School of Business and B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology.
