India may be struggling to accelerate growth to previous highs but it is outperforming its peers in the BRICS group of emerging economies.

With Brazil and Russia coping with recession, the average pace of expansion of the five BRICS economies in the July-September quarter was half of that recorded in the January-March period. Average growth, however, improved from the April-June period, according to data compiled by VCCircle.

Growth in the commodity-dependent BRICS economies can come under more pressure with global commodity prices slumping and the US Federal Reserve expected to raise interest rates later this month.
