Hero MotoCorp ropes in Sanjay Jorapur from Crompton Greaves as HR head

Hero MotoCorp Ltd, the world’s largest bike maker by volume, has appointed Sanjay Jorapur as chief human resources officer, the company said in a stock market disclosure. He is scheduled to join the firm later this month.

In this role, Jorapur will take complete charge of the company's HR function across its operations in India and global markets, and will report to Pawan Munjal, vice-chairman and MD of Hero MotoCorp.

Jorapur who has over two decades of experience spanning industries in various functional areas of HR, last served as head of HR at engineering firm Crompton Greaves. Prior to joining Crompton Greaves in May 2012, he was associated with Honeywell for a decade in various global leadership roles in HR across India and the US.

Before joining Honeywell, Jorapur also worked with companies like Alopa Networks, MindTree Consulting, Wipro and Citibank India.

Jorapur obtained a post graduate diploma in personnel management and industrial relations from Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur. He also holds a bachelor of engineering degree in computer science from Walchand College of Engineering, Maharashtra.

Hero MotoCorp, which has seen labour unrest in the past, has been expanding into new markets in Asia, Africa, and South & Central America. The company is setting up two new manufacturing plants in Bangladesh and Colombia.

It has also joined hands with US-based Erik Buell Racing, Italy's Engines Engineering, Australian firm AVL and Italy-based Magneti Marelli for technological purposes.

Last year, the company roped in AVL's Markus Feichtner to head its New Engines Design & Development division within the R&D function, and Rajat Bhargava from McKinsey & Co to head its corporate strategy and performance transformation function.
