Goodwin Procter to Open Asia Office

U.S Law firm, Goodwin Procter will open its first office in Asia this month, located in Hong Kong. The operations of the office will focus on the firm's expertise in private equity, venture capital, technology companies and fund formation. The global team will initially focus on the firm's clients who are investing in India, China and other centers of commerce in Asia. Yash Rana and Brian McDaniel, Goodwin Procter partners, are launching the Asia office. The Boston-based Goodwin Proctor also has an office in Silicon Valley.

Having an Asia presence is an integral part of the firm's strategic growth plans. Goodwin Procter's strategy is based on client needs and market demand. The firm's plan for both national and international expansion is to focus and build on its strengths in key industries and practices.

Last year the firm registered to practice as a foreign law firm in Hong Kong. Goodwin Procter employs more than 900 attorneys in offices in Boston, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Washington, D.C. The firm's core areas of practice are corporate, litigation and real estate, with specialized areas of focus that include financial services, private equity, technology, REITs and real estate capital markets, intellectual property, tax and products liability.

Yash Rana, other than being a partner in Goodwin Procter's Private Equity and Mergers and Acquisitions Group, also heads Goodwin Procter's India Practice.

Brian McDaniel is a partner in the firm's Business Law Department and a member of the Private Investment Funds Practice. Among other Goodwin Procter clients, he has represented Axiom Asia Private Capital, DT Capital, Sequoia Capital, and Softbank China Venture Capital.
