Global Edge Software acquires Bangalore-based Dearborn Electronics

Global Edge Software Ltd, an embedded software solutions and services company focused on wireless, telecom and IP networking technologies, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Bangalore-based Dearborn Electronics Pvt Ltd (DE) for an undisclosed amount. Post acquisition, Dearborn will work like a separate entity of Global Edge.

This acquisition will help Global Edge increase its focus on automotive electronics and industrial automation embedded systems.

As a part of the deal, Srinivas Prasad and Anand Mutalik will continue to serve on the board of DE as MD and CEO, respectively. Mutalik holds 30 years of experience in IT industry and had been one of the core promoters of Kshema Technologies which was acquired by Mphasis.

“The synergy with Global Edge provides sector expertise, embedded domain knowledge and quality processes. While our clients will continue to grow, they will also benefit from the breadth and depth of next-generation solutions that Global Edge Software offers," said Prasad.

“This partnership will add greater value to our clients and we are confident that Dearborn will reach greater heights with Global Edge,” said Mutalik.

Established in 2000, DE is an automotive and automation control, communication and information solutions company which helps in providing solutions for design, development and testing of control and network systems. The firm has been working with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and tool suppliers globally.

The company is backed by venture capital firm Global Technology Ventures Ltd which invested an undisclosed amount for 25 per cent stake in 2000. After five years of this funding, in 2005, the firm acquired Bangalore-based Ionic Microsystems Pvt Ltd, a technology provider for access points, including residential gateways, for an undisclosed amount.
