UK-based Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP has appointed Linklaters’ Singapore partner Arun Balasubramanian to co-head its Indian group.

Balasubramanian joined Linklaters’ London office in 2006 as a counsel and was elevated as partner after a year. In his new role at Freshfields, he will work along with the firm’s India group chairman Pratap Amin who is based in London. Balasubramanian specialises in capital markets and advises Southern Eastern clients in US law.

"Arun’s market knowledge and experience will make him an invaluable member of our India team and will greatly enhance the already considerable level of experience within Freshfields for Indian work. We also expect Arun to contribute to the development of our fast growing Southeast Asia practice," said Will Lawes, senior partner of Freshfields.
