Former Housing.com marketing chief backs Platform for artists Canvs.in

27 September, 2016

Canvs.in, a community for artists and designers in India, has received an undisclosed amount of angel investment from Pratik Seal, former chief marketing officer at Housing.com.

Seal’s knowledge and expertise in media, marketing and design will help the company expand its business, Canvs Creative Solutions Pvt. Ltd said in a statement.

The company will use the funds to expand its business and grow its community of designers, Debprotim Roy, founder and CEO at Canvs.in told TechCircle via email.

Canvs aims to bring together talent from industries such as advertising, marketing and entertainment on a single platform and connect them with like-minded people.

The startup was established in 2015 by IIT Bombay alumni Debprotim Roy, Ankit Agarwal and Vikash Choudhary (COO). Roy was formerly with Housing.com and Quikr in the business and products departments. Canvs.in has over 6,500 designers on its network. It previously raised Rs 1 crore in a seed round of funding from several individual investors.

“Commercial design (excluding architecture and interiors) in India is a $3 billion industry where the creative muscle is vastly unexplored and untapped. Canvs.in will give a structure to the community by bringing it to the forefront and synergistically connecting it to the industry,” said Roy.

Seal is presently Group CMO at AGS Transact Technologies, a payments solutions firm for the banking, retail and petroleum sectors. He has previously held marketing stints at Micromax, Samsung and Vodafone.
