New Delhi-based law firm Juris Corp has appointed former Fox Mandal corporate partner Debanjan Banerjee as partner in its merger & acquisitions (M&A) and private equity (PE) practice, media reports said.
Banerjee joined the company’s newly opened office in Bangalore from where the law firm plans to focus on representing startups and their investors, while leveraging the strength of Juris Corp in structured finance, according to a report by Legally India.
An email sent to Juris Corp seeking information on the development did not elicit any response by the time of filing this article.
Banerjee did his LLB from Calcutta University in 1999 and a master’s in Law and Economics in 2006 from the Erasmus University Rotterdam. He was made partner at Fox Mandal in April 2009.
At Fox Mandal, he was working as a partner, alongside three others, in the corporate and M&A practice.
Meanwhile, Juris Corp has expanded its PE practice in Mumbai by appointing Abhinav Surana as partner. Surana joined the firm in January 2016.
A law graduate from National Law University, Jodhpur, Abhinav has 8 years of experience in private equity, M&A and joint ventures.
He started his career with Herbert Smith Freehills, London, from where he moved to Amarchand Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co in 2009.
“With Abhinav on board, our client servicing capabilities, especially in the private equity domain, are enhanced” said H Jayesh, co-founder, Juris Corp, in a statement.
Juris Corp had recently appointed Aninda Pal as corporate partner in its M&A and PE practice.
