As a part of the investment, Chandrasekaran is joining the firm’s advisory board. Over the last one year, he has backed startups such as ed-tech company Makkajai, mobile payments firm Tone Tag and online home rental portal No Broker.

“Anand has a track record of excelling in dynamic markets and building products that serve customers globally. As a growth platform to engage users across channels, Anand’s insights and domain expertise in growing consumer internet companies will be invaluable to our endeavours,” said Raviteja Dodda, chief executive, MoEngage.

MoEngage India, was founded by IIT Kharagpur alumni Dodda and Yashwanth Kumar in July last year. Prior to launching the company, the duo had co-founded Pipal Tech Ventures, a technology firm developing mobile, social and location-based products. Dodda also had a brief stint with Cisco Systems.

The MoEngage platform helps internet companies deliver personalised interactions via push notifications, in-app recommendations, email, web-push and other communication channels, driving engagement. Its clientele includes Airtel, Times Internet, Interactive One, Snapdeal, GrowthHackers and Matahari Mall.

The company is launching a product called Sherpa, which gathers real-time insights from user actions across apps and websites, and automates marketing communication with predictive analytics, reducing manual intervention from marketers.

In September last year, the firm raised $4.25 million (Rs 28 crore) in a Series A funding round led by Helion Venture Partners. Exfinity Ventures, Snapdeal co-founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal and TaxiForSure co-founder Raghunandan G had also participated in the round.
