Saurabh Mukherjea, till recently with Execution Noble, has joined Ambit Capital as Head of Equities at the Managing Director level. Mukherjea, who will join Ambit upon completing his gardening leave, will add to the Mumbai-based investment bank’s institutional equities business.
The equity business will now be headed by Mukherjea, leaving Andrew Holland to continue to focus on Ambit’s Investment Advisory business full time. Mukherjea and Holland, who was MD of the strategic risk group (SRG) for DSP Merrill Lynch before joining Ambit in 2008, will report directly to Ashok Wadhwa.
Mukherjea has over 12 years of experience in the equities business with BSc and MSc from the London School of Economics. He was the co-founder of equity research firm Clear Capital in 2003, which was sold to Execution Noble in 2008. Mukherjea then moved to India to set up the institutional equities business in the country.
“Under Andrew’s leadership, Ambit’s equities business has made a substantial mark in the competitive landscape in the last few years because of its focus on strong research and client satisfaction. Our research has been widely commended, and our execution capabilities have strengthened considerably. With Saurabh at its helm now, Ambit Institutional equities business will undoubtedly add more insights into our research offering, and greatly ramp up our value proposition to our clients,” said Ambit Group CEO Ashok Wadhwa.
