Former Flipkart execs back health-tech startup Docwise

Kyros Healthcare Solutions Pvt. Ltd, which runs doctor consultation platform Docwise, has raised an undisclosed amount from former Flipkart executives Mekin Maheshwari and Gaurav Bhalotia, people aware of the development told VCCircle.

A clutch of other angels also participated in the round.

Docwise was founded two years ago by IIT Kanpur alumni Rahul Gupta and Sarthak Handa. However, Handa left the startup in February 2017 to start his own venture, according to his LinkedIn profile.

The startup provides doctors a platform to interact with their patients. The service is clinic-agnostic, which means doctors operating out of multiple locations can use it. Docwise is currently operational in Bangalore only, where more than 150 doctors use the service.

Gupta declined to comment on the development and to provide further information about Docwise.

Maheshwari, the former chief people officer at e-tailer Flipkart, has backed three companies so far this year. He made his most recent investment in Bangalore-based m-commerce app Goodbox. He has also founded Udhyam.org, a non-profit company focussed on grassroots-level entrepreneurship.

Bhalotia was vice president of engineering at Flipkart for four years, from 2012 to 2016. His investment portfolio includes counselling startup YourDOST, loantech firm Rupeek, edtech startup Makkajai, mutual funds investment platform Upwardly, foodtech startup Twigly, and co-living space provider StayAbode.

Other startups in the segment include QorQL, which uses artificial intelligence and big data to help doctors improve their productivity and quality of care, and enables patients to manage their health better. In April this year, the company raised an undisclosed amount from digital payments firm Paytm.

Another startup is SmarterHealth TechServe Pvt. Ltd, which runs BetterConnect+, an app that allows healthcare professionals and doctors to set goals for their patients, keep track of the prescribed treatment and provides alerts to better manage care.
