Errand running startup GetMyPeon secures $235K in seed funding

Mumbai-based 'GetMyPeon Services Pvt Ltd, which runs an errand-running and same day delivery service startup GetMyPeon, has raised seed funding of Rs 1.5 crore (under $235,000) to augment its operations, according to a press release. It did not share the name of the investor(s).

The startup is looking to invest the fund in building technology infrastructure and a mobile platform, hiring field executives and expanding its footprints to other geographies.

Founded in 2012 by Bharat Ahirwar with an initial investment of just Rs 20,000, GetMyPeon started its operations by delivering vada-pav and now it also offer services like assisting in picking up cakes, parcels, gifts, wedding cards, couriers, bike for servicing or receiving guests at airport/railway station.

It now claims to provide errand-running services to over 1,000 active clients in Mumbai, Thane and Vashi. It charges users anywhere between Rs 150 (one day pre-booked service) to Rs 1,500 for hiring an executive for nine hours, as per its website. 

Its charges include local public transportation costs incurred by the service personnel.

GetMyPeon takes order via calls and emails, and also accepts orders via WhatsApp mobile messenger and twitter tweets.

Payment is to be made in cash or through bank transfers.

“GetMyPeon was started with a simple vision of running errands for individuals and helping them with their daily chores. This has now turned into a reliable, affordable and dependable service to get anything personal to official done in the city. This round of funding will help us scale up operations to greater heights,” Ahirwar said.

Ahirwar did his BA in Sociology and Hindi Literature from Mumbai University. Before launching GetMyPeon, he has worked with companies such as United Airlines, Lintas, Veve Dance India and Lindy Hopp India.

A bunch of Indian on-demand concierge service startups has attracted investors in the last one year. Early this week, Goodservice, an on-demand chat-based concierge app, raised $1.6 million (Rs 10 crore) in seed funding from Sequoia Capital.

Another player Haptik raised $1 million in its first round of equity funding from Kalaari Capital last year.

Another direct competitor to GetMyPeon is OK Sir, a Mumbai-based daily need and emergency service startup which provides its users over 150 services across categories.
