Educomp Acquires 51% In Takshila Management Services

Educomp Solutions has bought a 51% stake in Takshila Management Services, a company specializing in setting up high quality schools in Tier II & Tier III cities across India.

The schools to be named "Takshila Schools" will have several distinguishing features and will have an affordable price point in order to cater to the lower segment of the population.

Presently, Takshila Management Services own 6 parcels of land and it has plans to set up 3 schools in Hoshiarpur (Punjab), Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) and Gaya (Bihar).

The schools will be able to start the sessions from the coming academic year (June 2009). Educomp has plans to further set up 25 schools over the next two years.

 

All the Takshila Schools shall use Educomp's Millennium Learning System as an integral part of the academic system.The Millennium Learning System is an integrated learning delivery framework for the entire school ecosystem and has been developed to bring in best international practices into the classroom and to know ' What Works' best in the current scenario.

Educomp Solutions is India's largest education company and has Citi Venture Capital and Gaja Capital as its investors. Educomp had earlier bought 51% stake in Author Gen (an e-learning software products and services provider) and a majority stake in Learninghour.com (Live Online School Tutoring) in 2007, besides other investments & partnerships. It has recently closed the debt funding for its Educomp Infrastructure & School Management Business for Rs 725 Crore.

In September this year, Educomp had entered into a 50-50 strategic partnership with EuroKids International with an investment of Rs 39 crores.
