Edelweiss appoints Riyaz Marfatia as managing partner for global wealth management

Edelweiss Financial Services Ltd has roped in Riyaz Marfatia from HDFC Bank as managing partner for its global wealth management service.

Marfatia, who has over two decades of experience in the banking and financial services sector, will be heading the financial advisory business for the western region at Edelweiss. He will report to Anshu Kapoor, head-global wealth management, Edelweiss Financial Services.

Marfatia has expertise in the private banking and wealth management, treasury, asset products, channel management and audit verticals.

Prior to joining Edelweiss, he was working with the HDFC Bank where, during his 15-year-long stint, he managed a team of 50 senior advisors in the bank's private banking business.

His appointment comes four months after the company roped in Ashish Tripathi from Ernst & Young (E&Y) as head of investment banking - TMTE (telecom, media, technology and entertainment) vertical of the company. 

Mumbai-based Edelweiss functions through four clusters—credit, financial markets & asset management, life insurance and commodities. The firm has 211 offices in 115 cities in India and abroad, and employs over 4,000 people.
