DTZ India appoints JLL’s Karun Varma and Johnson Controls’ Shashi Bushan as managing directors

The Indian arm of global property consultant DTZ International Property Advisers Pvt Ltd has appointed Karun Varma as managing director of strategic client services and new businesses, and Shashi Bushan as managing director of project management services.

These appointments come after the firm recently elevated three executives—Aniruddh Wahal as managing director of occupier services, transactions; Anuj Nangpal as managing director of investor services; and VS Sridhar as director of occupier services.

Prior to joining DTZ, Varma was working with Jones Lang LaSalle India’s south region as MD. In his new role at DTZ, he will be serving on three core client segments by developing new businesses and providing real estate services to key CRM clients. Varma has experience in handling P&L of transaction businesses across office, retail, residential and capital markets.

Bushan joins DTZ from Johnson Controls India Pvt Ltd where he was serving as director and head – projects, India and director – operations, Asia Pacific. At DTZ, he will oversee the entire fit-out and project management services across three client segments in India.

“In addition to extending our footprint in the Indian real estate consulting market, we are decisively moving to respond faster to growth opportunities we expect in the sector. Our new organisational structure is designed to speed up service delivery and accelerate growth, both short term and longer term,” said Anshul Jain, chief executive, DTZ India.

DTZ India provides investment advisory services including consulting and research, portfolio management, project management, investment advisory, buy and sell advisory and landlord representation. The firm, controlled by Australia’s UGL, is being demerged and is expected to be listed on the NYSE as first reported by VCCircle. DTZ employs 47,000 people including sub-contractors, operating across 208 offices in 52 countries.
