Global Travel & Hospitality Education Network (GlobalTHEN), a startup focusing on tourism and hospitality space, is looking to raise an institutional round of funding after roping in big names in the tech and venture capital industry as angel investors.

The company received Rs 1.8 crore in an angel round in April last year from big names like Deep Kalra (founder and CEO of MakeMyTrip), Alok Mittal (MD, Canaan India), Rajiv Vij (CEO of Carzonrent), Philip Wolf (chairman of PhoCusWright), Peter Harbison (executive chairman, Center for Asia Pacific Aviation), Cameron Jones (VP – Commercial, SilverRail Technologies) and Olivier Jager (CEO, Forwardkeys).

The firm has been operating in stealth mode until recently.

Ram Badrinathan, founder and CEO of GlobalTHEN, said, “The investment has been used to create the learningware IP using the OmniDEL platform. It has been designed by Sourabh Sarkar and will benefit the travel, tourism and hospitality industry globally. We are looking to raise a series A round (which will be much bigger than the angel funding) within the next six months.”

The startup has just launched its flagship product called Pawan Ko Kahin Dekha Kya, an interactive training programme for drivers which is designed to inculcate soft skills and customer service nuances. The product is targeted at hotels, airlines, destination management companies, travel agencies, cab rental services (for MNCs) and private car owners. GlobalTHEN will follow up this programme with other product launches including Well Done Shruti (focused on selling skills) and The Care Connection (customer service for the travel, tourism and hospitality industry).
