CVCI’s CIO Marc Desaedeleer Joins Suzlon Board

Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy Ltd has appointed Marc Desaedeleer, a CIO of(CVCI), as an additional director. Desaedeleer joins the company as Ajay Relan, independent director of Suzlon, has resigned from the board.

Relan, the former chief of CVCI in India, had led the PE firm’s investment in the renewable energy company. However, he moved out to form his own PE firm CX Partners.

Suzlon has also approved reconstitution of the audit committee and the remuneration committee, which will include all independent directors – namely, Ashish Dhawan, V Raghuraman and Marc Desaedeleer.

Desaedeleer has worked with CVCI for over a decade and prior to his current role, he led its business in CEEMEA. Before joining CVCI, he worked as a senior manager in Citi’s corporate banking business across more than 20 countries, with focus on Central Europe and Russia. Prior to that, he had also worked as a business manager in France. In the past, Desaedeleer had also worked for several international companies, such as Sulzer (Switzerland), Lisnave (Portugal) and Westinghouse Nuclear Europe.

He holds an MBA degree from Carnegie Mellon University and Master’s degree in Science from the University of Louvain (Belgium) where he was an assistant professor.

Headquartered in Pune, Suzlon Group is the world’s fifth largest wind turbine supplier in terms of cumulative installed capacity at the end of 2010. The company’s operations are spreads across Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa and North and South America, with more than 18,000 MW of wind energy capacity installed in 28 countries.
