Chat-based concierge startup Goodservice secures $1.6M funding from Sequoia Capital

Goodservice, an on-demand chat based concierge app, has raised $1.6 million (Rs 10 crore) in seed funding from Sequoia Capital, the company said on Tuesday.

Goodservice, which is run by Goodservice Labs Pvt Ltd, plans to use the funds to invest in technology and for expanding operations.

“All that a customer has to do is type a request -‘send me a carpenter’ and we get them the cheapest quote, make the booking, do follow-ups and ensure the job is done well. Backing from Sequoia will be important in helping us expand operations with a target of Rs 1 crore per day worth of requests for services and products,” said Vipul Aggarwal, co-founder, Goodservice.

It offers services such as booking movie tickets, getting doctor’s appointments, finding products and accessories from local stores and getting food delivered from restaurants.

Abheek Anand, principal, Sequoia Capital, said, “Goodservice has been seeing terrific traction, a testament to how their services concierge app is resonating strongly with consumers.”

Goodservice was founded in 2014 by Stanford University graduate Aggarwal and Ruchir Jain, an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad. It employs over 40 persons currently.

The service is currently available to customers in Delhi NCR and will be made available to the rest of the country in phases.
