MD of Country's Bellwether Index Resigns

Rajnikant Patel has resigned from the post of managing director and chief executive officer of the Bombay Stock exchange, citing personal reasons, reportsreports Reuters. The bourse's chief operating officer, Mahesh L Soneji, would be overseeing the additional responsibilities of the managing director until a new appointment was made, the BSE said in a statement.

C Rangarajan, 76, chairman, Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council (EAC), has resigned from the post. He is expected to get a Parliamentary berth and join the Union Cabinet soon, reports Business Standard. Economist Suresh Tendulkar, who is currently a member of the Council, is taking over as the new chairman. Tendulkar, a Ph. D in economics from Harvard University, is a part time member of the EAC since January 2005. He is also the part time chairman of the National Commission on Statistics from July, 2006. He is also on the central board of directors of the Reserve Bank of India from June 2006.

Rajeev Malik of J.P. Morgan Moves To Macquarie Capital

Economist Rajeev Malik has moved to Macquarie Capital Securities (Singapore) Pte Ltd. He will be the economist for Southeast Asia and India and continue to be based in Singapore. Malik left JPMorgan, where he was part of the Asia Economic Research team.
