Huntington Beach-based BridgeCo, a developer of semiconductors for the home entertainment equipment market, fresh off a $6M financing round, said it will use some of that funding to open up a new, research and development center in Bangalore, India. BridgeCo said that it will invest $2M of its recent round into financing the new R&D center, which will be staffed initially with 20 software engineers. BridgeCo develops semiconductors which can be used to stream music over Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB, and other connections.

BridgeCo recently launched its JukeBlox technology platform, announced last year.  It’s JukeBlox platform claims to combine the industry's most integrated networked media processor with an industry-first Linux-based Software Development Kit (SDK) aimed at streaming digital music in the home. The technology platform can combine access to over 10,000 internet radio stations and the ability to wirelessly stream PC-stored and iPod content anywhere in a home networked environment using DLNA and uPnP protocols.

The company has added Pioneer, Harman Kardon, and JBL over the past year, in addition to on-going programs with Denon and Philips. Other major brands will be announced throughout 2009 as their products come to market.
