Bharti Says No Plans For Rights Issue For MTN Deal

25 May, 2009

Bharti Airtel, which restarted merger talks with South Africa’s MTN Group, does not plan to make a rights issue to raise funds for the deal.

“The proposed transaction does not envisage a rights issue,” the company said in a statement to Reuters in response to some submitted questions.

The company did not elaborate how it was planning to fund the deal, which would see it take a 49 percent stake in MTN.
