Bharti Airtel Restructures Top Management

Just after Bharti Airtel chief executive sold all his holding in the company, the telecom firm decided to re-jig its organisational structure. Sanjay Kapoor, who was earlier the president for mobility will now take over as the deputy CEO and will also head the firm’s consumer business. He will now look after the firm’s mobility, fixed-line, direct-to-home (DTH) and broadband businesses.

Atul Bindal, the telemedia business head and the president of Bharti Airtel will report to Sanjay Kapoor. Post the re-jig, Bindal will have an added responsibility of overseeing the mobility business of the company, besides in-charge of fixed- line, DTH and broadband businesses.

Even after selling his entire stake amounting of 123,000 shares in the firm, Manoj Kohli continues to 180,000 options in the company. He will continue to be the CEO and Joint Managing Director at Bharti Airtel. Sanjay Kapoor and David Nishball, enterprise services president will continue to report to Kohli.

Kohli has sold his shares in the company for personal reasons. He sold his 53,000 shares on March 6 for Rs 3.13 crore and 70,000 shares on March 9 for Rs 4.07 crore. The entire stake holding has been sold for Rs 7.2 crore. the reports of Kohli’s stake sale had led to speculations about him exiting out of Bharti Airtel till he clarified that he would continue to be the CEO and the Joint MD of the company.
