PIPE will be led by Tawfik Hammoud, a senior partner based at the company's Toronto office, and will advise global investment firms on investment diligence, transformation of portfolio companies, organisation, strategy, and how to enter into new asset classes and markets, among other areas.

“BCG’s ability to both help investors raise the bar for their internal capabilities and provide transformational support for their portfolio assets has shown a tremendous ability to generate alpha and enhanced returns for our PIPE clients," said Rich Lesser, president and CEO of BCG.

It will have some of the world’s largest private-equity investors, hedge funds, pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and real estate and infrastructure funds as it clients.

“Investors are now operating in an environment where a growing supply of capital is pursuing a limited set of assets in search of returns. This is causing them to increasingly take a more direct and active approach to identifying and managing their investments through the cycle in an attempt to generate excess returns," Hammoud said.

BCG’s existing industry practice areas include consumer goods, industrial goods, financial services & insurance, technology, media and telecom, health care, and energy. This development, in effect, splices out consultancy service to PEs as a separate unit from the broader financial services space.

Founded in 1963, BCG is a private company with 82 offices in 46 countries, including India.
