Battery Ventures Makes Ramneek Gupta Partner; To Open India Office

US-based Battery Ventures, a venture capital and growth investment firm, has promoted Ramneek Gupta to Partner. Gupta will now be moving to India and  open the firm's office in Bombay later this year. He is currently based out of Battery's office in Silicon Valley.

Gupta is responsible for the firm's Indian investments in Tech Process, Tejas Networks, Travelguru and Highmark. Mark Sherman is the General Partner at Battery Ventures who looks after the firms India investments. Another partner at Battery looking after India investments is Gautam Patel. Battery has also promoted three other individuals to Principal. 

Gupta joined Battery in 2006 and focuses on investments related to India in the technology, financial services, media, education and specialty retail sectors.  Prior to Battery, Gupta spent over three years as a Principal at ITU Ventures. In July last year Battery has closed its eighth fund at $750 million. Battery has also expanded its operations in Israel and has also added 6 new Associates.
