Kirkland launches Asia private equity funds team : Kirkland & Ellis is setting up an Asian private equity funds practice with the relocation of two partners, including London partner Justin Dolling.

Dolling, who will move to Hong Kong from London in January 2009, joined Kirkland from SJ Berwin in January 2007 as part of a three-partner funds team also including Mark Mifsud and Richard Watkins. The practice will include advising private equity managers on structuring and creating private equity investment funds, restructuring and refinancing the funds and related buy-out work.

International Hedge Funds Concordia, GSA Capital Shut Asian Offices As Markets Slump

There is not much to cheer about in hedge fund land. Embattled hedge fund Concordia Advisors LLC and GSA Capital Partners LLP are  Asian offices as the industry posts negative returns and faces redemptions in the worst financial crisis since the 1930s.

International hedge funds are shutting down, downsizing Asian operations, or delaying office openings for the first time, as poor returns force them to cut costs and fundraising in the region proves difficult.
