Arun Jaitley is new FM, Rajnath Singh gets home; meet India’s new ministers

The Narendra Modi-led government allocated portfolios to its 45-member team sticking to the script with Arun Jaitley getting finance, corporate affairs and defence, Rajnath Singh becoming the home minister while Modi kept personnel, public grievances & pensions besides the department of atomic energy and space to himself.

Other key economic ministries went to Nitin Gadkari (road, transport, highways & shipping), Nirmala Sitharaman (commerce), Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati (civil aviation), Ravi Shankar Prasad (communications and IT, law and justice), Ananth Kumar (chemicals and fertilisers), Anant Geete (heavy industries and public enterprises), Narendra Singh Tomar (mines, steel, labour and employment), Dharmendra Pradhan (petroleum & natural gas), Piyush Goyal (power, coal and new and renewable energy) and M Venkaiah Naidu (urban development).
