App developer toolkit startup Hansel.io gets seed funding

Hansel Software Pvt Ltd, which operates a toolkit for mobile app developers called Hansel.io, has raised an undisclosed amount in a seed funding round led by early-stage venture capital firm Endiya Partners.

GSF Accelerator founder Rajesh Sawhney, Flipkart chief people officer Mekin Maheshwari and Tracxn Labs also put money in this round, the company said in a statement. The funding was facilitated through TracxnSyndicate, the funding platform of startup tracker Tracxn Labs.

In an interaction with Techcircle.in, Varun Ramamurthy, the founder CEO of Hansel.io, said the funds will be used for hiring across verticals and to lead marketing efforts.

“With more than 3 million apps vying for customer attention across different operating systems and corresponding increase in costs for acquisition, it becomes imperative to deliver superior runtime experience for customers on the mobile platform in order to retain them,” said Sateesh Andra, managing director at Endiya.

Founded in October 2015 by Ramamurthy, Parminder Singh and Mudit Mathur, Hansel.io is a toolkit for app developers that allows them to fix crashes at runtime and communicate with users.

According to Ramamurthy, the company has received about 100 signups. However, he refused to divulge the exact number of customers.

“In the current scenario at large, when things start breaking in an app, there is no way you have control over an app unless you have figured out what went wrong, modify the code and then again launch an update and wait for the user to update. On the lines of Google and Apple’s developer policy, we try to give a runtime control of your app. We basically help the developer to manage his app at runtime,” said Ramamurthy.

An IIM Kolkata alumni, Ramamurthy has previously worked with Zynga and Flipkart. Parminder Singh, the chief technology officer, is an alumnus of International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, and has previously worked at Flipkart and Rediff. Mathur, a vice president, is an NIT Warangal alumnusi and has previously worked with Flipkart’s core mobile team. He has also worked with Disney Interactive.

Hansel.io will compete with the likes of Crashlytics, Crittercism and New Relic in this segment.
