Ambit Ropes In Rahul Gupta As Deputy Group CEO

Financial services firm Ambit Holdings has appointed senior banker Rahul Gupta as deputy group chief executive officer, the company has said in a statement today.

In the new role, he will report to Ashok Wadhwa, Group CEO, and also oversee the private wealth and institutional equities businesses at Ambit, which are led by Sutapa Banerjee and Saurabh Mukherjea respectively.

Gupta is a former member of the board of directors, senior managing executive officer and CFO of Shinsei Bank, Japan, overseeing a balance sheet in excess of $120 billion. He has 25 years of banking experience across all major Asian economies.

Before joining Shinsei Bank, he was managing director and group financial controller of DBS Bank, Singapore. Gupta also served as chief controller (Asia) at Deutsche Bank, Asia Pacific Head Office, Singapore, and chief controller (India) for Deutsche Bank, India. He had also held senior financial management positions at HSBC (India) and Societe Generale (India). He is also a Senior Advisor with the global consulting firm Oliver Wyman and a member of the board of directors at SICOM, India, representing J.C. Flowers & Co.

Gupta holds a Masters degree in Marketing Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai, and a Bachelors of Commerce (Honours), University of Delhi.
