Almost a third of revenues of Future Group’s Big Bazaar is expected to come from fashion

The fashion element in Future Group’s Big Bazaar is on the rise. The company plans to increase the fashion quotient across its three segments—apparel, food and home. Almost a third of its revenues is expected to come from fashion. Sadashi Nayak, CEO, Big Bazaar, tells us that the company has already planned 10 more FBB (Fashion at Big Bazaar) stores in 10 months and also plans to reach a target of 100 as soon as possible compared with 30 at present. Each outlet requires a capital expenditure plus working capital of Rs 2,000 per square feet and each store is likely to be 60,000 square feet. The company at present has 30 standalone FBBs; 60 of the 160 normal stores also have an FBB segment. Nayak also mentioned that Big Bazaar is seeing traction in tier 2 and tier 3 cities for further expansion.
