TV actress Saumya Tandon invests in Jugnoo
TV and film actress Saumya Tandon has invested an undisclosed amount in on-demand delivery services and transportation aggregation startup Jugnoo.
Saumya, who has played character roles in films such as Jab We Met and television serial Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, will also be Jugnoo’s brand ambassador.
“With Saumya coming on board, our patrons and new users will have a face to connect with and her popularity will aid better brand recall,” said Samar Singla, founder and CEO of Jugnoo (run by Chandigarh-based SoCoMo Technologies Pvt Ltd).
The company will use the money raised from Saumya to augment capacity across various businesses, Singla said. Founded in November 2014 by IIT Delhi alumni Singla and Chinmay Aggarwal, Jugnoo focuses on four segments—auto booking services, taxi aggregation, online ordering and home delivery of meals and groceries.
Jugnoo recently closed its Series B funding round with a total of $5.5 million (around Rs 37 crore). It raised about $2.5 million in the final tranche. Existing investors Paytm and Snow Leopard Technology Ventures participated in the round, with Paytm leading it.
