Car services marketplace Cartisan raises seed funding from Global Founders, YouWeCan and others

Cartisan will extend its operations beyond Bangalore and broaden its service provider network.

Bangalore-based automotive services marketplace Cartisan has raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from Global Founders Capital, Yuvraj Singh's YouWeCan Ventures, TaxiForSure founder Aprameya Radhakrishna and others.

Cartisan will use the money to extend its operations beyond Bangalore and broaden the service provider network, as per a press statement.

“We believe in Cartisan’s vision to simplify car care. It’s an innovative product catering to all the  servicing related needs of car owners. By investing in Cartisan, we  want to help service providers grow their business and car owners to make an informed choice when it comes to servicing their cars,” cricketer Yuvraj Singh said.

Founded in June 2015 by Venkat Sreeram, Sharath Murthy and Pete Bulley, Cartisan caters to all vehicle-related service requirements through over 100 service providers enrolled on its platform.

The portfolio of services provided include car cleaning and detailing, regular maintenance, running repairs and breakdown services. It has onboarded reputed car care chains such as 3M Car Care and Bosch Car. Users can track the progress of the services availed through Cartisan's Android app, which was launched recently.

Sreeram is an IIT Madras and IIM Lucknow alumnus, and has earlier worked with Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover, while Murthy studied at NIT Karnataka and IIM Lucknow. Both Bulley and Murthy had earlier worked with Xenon Automotive.

“Cartisan is looking to disrupt the automotive services space by bringing innovative services, transparency in pricing and service quality with comparative price estimates and ratings,” said TaxiForSure’s co-founder Radhakrishna.

The automotive after-market servicing business in India is pegged at about $2 billion (excluding spare parts), as per a joint study by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Automotive Components Manufacturers Association (ACMA).

This is YouWeCan Ventures’ sixth investment since its launch in April. It has put money in Healthians, Edukart, Moovo, Vyomo and JetSetGo – an online marketplace for booking private jets.

Global Founders Capital is the European investment fund set up in 2013 by Rocket Internet founders Oliver and Marc Samwer, who are also brothers.

Xenon Automotive India Pvt. Ltd. owns and operates online web portal www.cartisan.in. It helps car owners to find the nearest, car service providers and provide booking service for car washes to regular maintenance. It also offers door step car cleaning and detailing, periodic servicing and body repair. The company was founded in 2014 and is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka with registered office in Chennai.
