VCCEdge has released its Monthly Deal Update July 2010.

Highlights

Private Equity

• Total private equity investment in India went up by nearly 190% from $270 million in July 2009 to $776 million in July 2010.

• The first seven months of 2010 have seen private equity deal value at $5.1 billion as compared to $4.3 billion in the whole of 2009.

• Financials, Consumer Discretionary and Utilities were the most targeted sectors for investment.

Mergers & Acquisitions

• Deal value rose nearly 5X to $5.4 billion in July 2010, up from $1.1 billion in July 2009.

• The value of domestic deals increased to $2.0 billion in July 2010 as compared to $0.3 billion in July 2009 while inbound deal value increased from $0.7 billion to $2.0 billion during the same period.

• Energy, Healthcare & Materials were the most targeted sectors.
