I am surprised that the whole community is looking at TATAs no one is looking at the poor people who lost their property. How can any one snatch other propert at throw away price. This is a major cause of the problem. Jindals has set an example to make the loosing farmers the shareholders in their companies. But TATA could not do the same because of the greed. They managed to negotiate lot many advantages like subsidies, loan at ridiculously low prices etc Infact the ordinary taxpayer is subsidizing the nano car. Probably this is the reason that the details of deal never disclosed in public. Otherwise what was the fear in being transparent. The industrialist should deal the local people directly for land purchase and rehabilitate them and this is going to be the only answer.

What a waste? If people insist on pissing on their own shoes, nobody can do anything about it. States liek West bengal and Kerala need to learn lessons from this. Industrial growth is an eseential answer to farmers who get displaced by tractors and mechanization. Every factory job spawns 20 more jobs around it. That's the only way. States that understand this are wise. People like Mamata and Arundhati Roy may be well meaning but idiots who do more harm than good to the very people they are trying to help. They would rather see them starve than benefit from industrialization!

It is indeed a sad day for West Bengal.
The Tata Investment (and the attention and other following investments it would have brought) could have proven to be an huge reversal in the downward trend of WB's industrial future.
Politicians like Ms. Mamta Bannerjee should think of the future generations before causing such destruction for their own political gains.
She might have won, but the people of West Bengal have lost.
