NDTV Convergence CEO Sanjay Trehan has quit the organisation after working with it for two years. He put in his papers on Monday and is currently serving his notice period. He had joined the company in March 2007 and was the founding CEO of NDTV Convergence.

He has told Exchange4media.com that he had found a better and a bigger opportunity and decided to take it. It is also speculated that Trehan has decided to move out of NDTV Convergence owing to the new cost rationalisation that the organisation has adopted. He has, however, denied such reports.

Interestingly, Trehan has put in his papers just one day before the relaunch of NDTV’s website, NDTV.com. At NDTV Convergence, Trehan initiated the launch of the first Indian full swing WAP portal, NDTV Active. He also played a key role in starting the video aggregator Tubaah.com and NDTVKhabar.com, a video based Hindi portal. He took NDTV Convergence from a 15 member department to a team of over 100 professionals.

Prior to joining NDTV Convergence, Trehan was the vice president, broadband and web 2.0 at Times Internet Ltd (TIL). Trehan’s exit from NDTV Convergence comes only a week after Dinesh Wadhwan quit TIL as its CEO. Speculations of Trehan joining TIL again have been doing the rounds. Trehan has, however, not revealed much about his next assignment.

Trehan was the chief of internet at HT Media and prior to that he worked as the chief operating officer at Jaldi.com, an e-tailing portal.
