Dhama plans to use the raised funds towards the expansion of its sales and marketing capabilities.

Reliance Technology Ventures Ltd (RTVL), the venture capital arm of Reliance ADA Group, and Mumbai Angels have invested in Hyderabad based climate conditioning apparel company, Dhama Apparel Innovations Pvt. Ltd. The amount invested have not been disclosed.

Dhama plans to use the raised funds towards the expansion of its sales and marketing capabilities. It is looking at expanding in the international markets too. A part of the raised funds will also be used towards product innovation.

The company provides apparel based heating or cooling solutions to individuals working or living in adverse climatic conditions. The company has a patented technology for providing such solutions. The company’s current line of products includes ClimaGear- a jacket/vest, ClimaNeck- a neck accessory and ClimaMet- a helmet.

The products are made using the ClimaCon technology developed by Dhama, which allows the users to select the choice of temperature that they wish to feel. It hence allows the users to adjust to various climatic conditions without adding to stress and health problems. The products supplement human bodies’ thermal regulations as they not obstruct the sweat evaporation.

The company targets people working and living in extreme heat, which may cause adverse effects on the human body such as military personnel, outdoor / industry workers and sportspersons.

The company was founded in January 2008 and is currently based out of National Design Business Incubator at National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad.  The company has received both Phase I and Phase II grant from Technopreneur Promotion Programme from Indian Government’s Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR) to develop and commercialise its products with ClimaCon technology.

Dhama’s promoter, Kranthi Kiran Vistakula is the co-founder of Intact Labs, an enabler of next generation energy products.
