Enam Ventures Into Carbon Credits; Ties Up With Sindicatum Carbon Capital

Financial and technical consulting for carbon credits will be a new growth area for investment banks. Mumbai based investment banking firm Enam Financial has realised this and has formed a joint venture with UK’s Sindicatum Carbon Capital International Ltd, a firm that provides consulting in greenhouse gas reduction projects, reports Mint.
Enam, which already offers equity brokerage, private equity, M&A, private banking and wealth managment services, will be now the only domestic firm to offer investment banking services for carbon credit deals.
There are others like Ecosecurities India, Asia Carbon Ltd and Rabo India Finance offering similar services in India. Mint quotes an Enam official as saying that the market for carbon credit deals in India is estimated at around $6 billion (Rs 23,640 crore) in the next four years. Mint has more details on the carbon credits market.

I want to know the details of the Carbon Credits,How can we go for that and total investment required and also how much income

ALOK KUMAR

India is one of the countries that have 'credits' for emitting less carbon. India and China have surplus credit to offer to countries that have a deficit. India has generated some 30 million carbon credits and has roughly another 140 million to push into the world market. Waste disposal units, plantation companies, chemical plants and municipal corporations can sell the carbon credits and make money.
This is going to be the very big market, probably bigger than the stock market and commodities market in years to come.

Carbon credit is very emerging domain nw a days especially in India but very few corporates are aware of this emergiing segment. At present it is quite essential to created awareness about this business segment. ie what are all the revenue streams, Statuary Guidelines, global positioning etc. various research associations may look for this opportunity . Also even organisations like Enam may also take some steps which in returns may get some really gud opportunities to invest.

Looking forward,
